Air Sealing

Air sealing is a cost-effective way to reduce heating and cooling costs, increase comfort, create a healthier indoor environment, and improve building material durability. How? By limiting the amount of air that leaks in and out of a home, heating and cooling equipment has to run less frequently, indoor air quality improves because moisture laden and polluted air from outside is reduced from entering your home, and building materials last longer because of more consistent environmental conditions.

Insulation

Once the building envelop of a home has been properly air sealed, adding insulation is the next step in improving efficiency and comfortability. Measured in R-Value, insulation slows the transfer of heat through conduction, convention and radiation thus keeping your house warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

About the WAP Program
The U.S. Department of Energy WAP Program reduces energy costs for income eligible households by increasing the energy efficiency of their homes, while ensuring their health and safety. The program provides weatherization services to approximately 35,000 homes every year using DOE funds. Through the weatherization improvements and upgrades, these households save on average $283 or more every year according to a national evaluation of the program. Since the program began in 1976, WAP has helped improve the lives of than 7 million families through weatherization services.
